The rubber molding compound making a mold of the fragile plastic post on the black plastic side panel.
Another shot.  I heated it up on a slab of aluminum on the stove over a gas burner.  Be very careful not to over heat it or you'll get bubbles, which will make a poorer mold.  Just 120-130F will do.
The mold cooled and removed.  There is a little bit of powder in the mold already (I forgot to take the pic before I started filling it).
The mold filled with Plastex.  I used the grey first, then the black and finished with white, so the finished product should be piebald!  :-)  I added the powder and the activator in layers keeping it pretty wet so all of the powder got activated until I got to the outside.
Here is the rough post out of the mold.  The extra can be easily trimmed off with a Dremel and/or a file.
Here is the finished post with its base.
Another shot.  This post can be cut off wherever (and whenever!) needed to replace a broken one.
